Clarice Cliff Small Vase, 1993 MOMA Reproduction
I discovered this vase by chance and then quickly became obsessed with Clarice Cliff — an artist who exploded in the 20s and 30s with her brightly colored, highly original designs and consequently began running her own studio (mostly women) at a time when there really weren’t any other “career women” out there. She was very good at marketing and was an early adopter of celebrity endorsements. Interestingly enough — I later noticed that Miranda Priestly had two of these vases in her office in The Devil Wears Prada 2. B.J. Novak is puzzling over them as he waits in her office. Kind of great.
This vase is an authorized reproduction that MOMA issued in 1993. Each piece was hand painted in the Philippines and has slightly different character. It’s a small vase that packs a lot of punch.
Material: ceramic
Measurements: 6.25 H x 3 5/8 W
Weight: 0.5 lbs
Condition: excellent vintage condition — no chips or cracks
