This is an insanely cool, extremely rare whistle or “aerophone” — basically a flute. It’s clearly very old, and made in the style of a Pre-Columbian antiquity from Northern Peru but this has not been professionally authenticated. It came from the estate of a collector in Beverly Hills who had an incredible collection. You can see some other examples of this style here, here, here, and here.
I want to be clear that you should not put water in this vessel as it will leak but it can also cause damage and additional cracking to a piece this old. It is great for holding a few wildflowers you pick up on your afternoon walk, or simply as a decorative collectible on its own. Have all your friends blow into it — it’s fun and sounds like a flute. I also considered putting a very thin candle in it but it’s too tight a fit and not worth the risk of damaging this very old piece.
Material: ceramic
Measurements: 8” L × 3” W × 7” H
Weight: 1.5 lbs
Condition: good condition for being potentially ancient - there is some subtle cracking throughout, barely noticeable
This piece is one-of-a-kind and very rare.
