There’s something powerful about the inclusion of a chair with this nude figure. An obvious symbol of rest, of simple being. This figure doesn’t feel watched. It’s not a pedestalization of the female form. It’s the observation and allowance of simple being. A body not doing or being anything for anyone. Perhaps there’s some sadness, but there’s beauty in just the being. Whatever that is.
There is some prominent cracking, but I find it to be an important part of the energy of this piece and it’s point of avoiding any and all glorification.
I personally love it as a collection with it’s two ceramic counterparts, as seen in the last photograph.
