This set of fabric designs was created by American artist Linda Hudson. It is one in a series of designs by seven contemporary artists inspired by the textile tradition of the H’mong, an ethnic minority living in northern Vietnam. The resulting artworks, which incorporate discarded remnants of H’mong antique tribal embroidery, batik and applique were produced exclusively by The S.P.I.R.A.L. Foundation in its Handicraft Workshop in Hanoi, Vietnam, with full authorization by the artists as their sensible contribution to generate resources in support of the survival of this fragile ethnic tradition.
Both works have a rattan frame and are covered in plexiglass on both sides. They come as a set inside of a woven rattan tray (as pictured). There is no hanging hardware on the back of these pieces which I have left as-is in order to preserve the original integrity of the set. But if you want to hang as art (as I would) I would attach an adhesive plate hanger (make sure you select the 4” option so it holds the weight) to the back (super easy), or this set (slightly more involved).
